Video-CD (VCD, Compact Disc digital video)

Sony, Philips, Matsushita and JVC launched the VCD standard in 1993. Video-CD was the successor of CD-Video. It was one of the first optical carriers that had room for a complete full-length film, thanks to a capacity of 80 minutes. This was a great progress compared to the meagre five minutes of a CD-Video.
